MEET THE SENATE CANDIDATES AT STATE OF THE CITY MEETING

 

The Greenville Chamber is hosting a State of the City chamber meeting Wednesday, September 29 at 7:30 a.m. at the Bradford Community Room.  Members and visitors will have the opportunity to meet Illinois State Senate candidates Senator Kyle McCarter and Tim Dudley.  Each candidate will have fifteen minutes to tell about themselves and their platform.  There will also be time for guests to visit one-on-one with the candidates.  The meeting is free and open to the public and coffee and donuts will be served.  For more information, call 567-7979.

CLASSIC RABBIT TALE COMING TO HIGHLAND

 

Hard Road Theatre will present “Harvey” at the Highland Elementary Auditorium October 1, 2, 8, and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and October 3 at 2:00 p.m.  This play is perhaps best remembered as a Jimmy Stewart 1950 movie.  Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, and $6.00 for children, and may be purchased at the door.  For more information, call 654-7748.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DROPS BELOW 10 PERCENT

 

The August statewide unemployment rate is 9.9 percent and in single digits for the first August since 2008, showing additional data that the Illinois economy is steadily improving.  In the Illinois Section of the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area, the unemployment rate is 10.1 percent, down from 11 percent in August 2009.  Locally, the rate in Bond County is 9.7 percent, down from 10.1 percent in August 2009.  Unemployment rates also dropped in surrounding counties.  In Clinton County, the rate is 7.9%, down from 8.7% in 2009.  Madison County went from 10.9 to 9.7 and St. Clair dropped from 12.1 to 11.3%.


 


IDOT MEETING PLANNED TO DISCUSS LEBANON BYPASS PROJECT

 

The Illinois Department of Transportation has scheduled a meeting to discuss the proposed Lebanon Bypass project, Monday, September 27, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Commons Room of Lebanon High School, located at 200 West Schuetz Street in Lebanon.  The meeting will be an open-house format allowing informal sharing of your comments and input regarding the possible need for the bypass.  If you have questions or need more information, call 618-346-3160.

FALL INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT AT KASKASKIA COLLEGE

 

The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present its annual fall instrumental concert Tuesday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium.  The concert and jazz bands will perform.  A reception for patrons and performers follows the performance.  The concert is free and open to the public.

CARMEN V. BARDELMEIER

 

Carmen V. Bardelmeier, age 88, of Alhambra, passed away Friday, September 24 at Hitz Memorial Home. Memorial services will be at a later date and there is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Hitz Memorial Home. Dauderman Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

 

 

MELBA M. HODAPP

 

Melba M. Hodapp, age 81, of Carlyle, passed away Monday, September 20 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

 

HUGH JUNIOR GISH

 

Hugh “Junior” Gish age 81 of Summerfield passed away Friday, September, 24th at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. A Memorial service for 81 year old Hugh “Junior” Gish will be Monday at 7pm at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in Summerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7pm at Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

 

ROLAND “BUDDY” HALLERMAN

 

Roland “Buddy” Hallerman, age 69, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, September 26 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  Funeral arrangements for 69 year-old Roland “Buddy” Hallerman are incomplete at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.

 

JAMES SPINNIE

 

James Spinnie age 59 of Taylor Springs, Formerly of Coffeen passed away Friday September 24th at his residence. Funeral Services for 59 year old James Spinnie will be Friday at 11am at the Free Methodist Church in Coffeen. Burial will be in Olive Hill Cemetery, Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the church.

 

ROLAND AMBUEHL

 

Roland E. Ambuehl age 79 of Aviston, passed away Saturday, September 25th at Aviston Countryside Manor. Funeral services for 79 year old Roland Ambuehl will be Tuesday at 10am at the Chapel in Highland City Cemetery. Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7pm at Spengel Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice, Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Aviston
