TRICK OR TREAT RESTRICTIONS AND SAFETY TIPS

 

According to Greenville Police Department restrictions, Halloween Trick or Treat, within the city limits, will be limited to one night only, Saturday, October 30 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., for children twelve years old and under.   Children should carry a flashlight, only go to residences that have their porch lights on, and an adult should accompany small children.  Costumes should contain reflective material, no props with points or sharp edges, and masks that restrict vision should not be worn.   Cross streets only at intersections after looking both ways.  Children should not eat treats until they are inspected by a parent or an adult and notify the police immediately if any suspicious treats are found. GALLATIN COUNTY SHERRIF CONVICTED OF ALL COUNTS

 

One of the most bizarre circumstances involving an Illinois county sheriff ended when he was convicted on 15 counts. According to the United States Attorney’s Office of Southern Illinois, Gallatin County Sheriff, Raymond Martin, age 48 of Junction, Illinois, was convicted of three counts of distribution of marijuana, one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana, two counts of carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, 3 counts of attempted witness tampering, one count of conspiracy to tamper with a witness through physical force, three counts of attempted witness tampering through threats, intimidation and corrupt persuasion, one count of attempted witness tampering and one count of attempted to structure financial transactions to avoid reporting currency requirements. Martin faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and 1 million dollars in fines. Martin’s sentencing is scheduled for January 11, 2011 in Benton.

GREENVILLE GOLF TEAM FINISHES 3RD AT CONFERENCE TOURNEY

 

The Greenville Golf Team finished third at the South Central Conference Tournament Monday, but they did have the medallist of the tournament on their team. Tanner Neece finished first and Dustin Hoffmeirer finished third. Both were named to the all-conference team. Coach Denny Lloyd was proud of his team’s performance. The other golfers who competed were Blake Moss, Will Knebel, Danial Suess, and Casey Brown.

OBITUARIES

ROLAND “BUDDY” HALLEMAN

 

Roland “Buddy” Halleman, age 65, of Greenville, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, September 26 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  Graveside funeral services for 65 year-old Roland “Buddy” Halleman are today, at 2:00 p.m., at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.  Memorials are suggested to the family.  The Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.
