53RD ANNUAL HOLIDAY BAZAAR COMING SOON

The 53rd annual Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar is Saturday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Greenville Free Methodist Church on Rt. 140.  Early-bird admission is offered from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. for a donation of one non-perishable food item.  More than 25 booths will offer a wide variety of unique items including Christmas decorations, crafts, gift items, jewelry, antiques and collectibles, wreaths, and the famous apple butter.  The auction starts at 11:30 a.m. and features quilts, autographed sports memorabilia, furniture, and an original Bob Horsfall print. All proceeds benefit Greenville Regional Hospital.  Volunteers are still needed.  If you can help, call Nancy at 664-1631.

NOVEMBER PRECIPITATION TOTALS AND RECORDS FOR GREENVILLE

Greenville received an average of 5.99 inches of rainfall in November.  When compared with the past 43 years, November 2010 ranks 13th wettest.  The least amount of rain received in November over the past 43 years was in 1976 when only two tenths of an inch was recorded in Greenville.  The most rain fell in November 1985 with nine and a half inches.  10.2 inches of snow fell in November 1980.

GEOTHERMAL AND COOLING SYSTEM FOR KASKASKIA COLLEGE

Kaskaskia College was awarded a grant of more than $26,000 to help complete installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system for the college’s fitness center. This grant was funded by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in conjunction with the Illinois Clean Energy Committee Foundation. The program encourages the use of clean and efficient geothermal systems to heat and cool public facilities. These grants are available for any facility operated by a government or non-profit organization.

Rosetta Turner Chapon, age 63, of Whittear, California, formerly of Sorento, passed away Thursday, November 25.  The Memorial Gardens Mortuary in Brea, California is in charge of arrangements.

BARBARA BOGESS MORGAN

Barbara Bogess Morgan, age 92, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, November 28 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice.

ALVIN WARNECKE

Alvin G. “Al” Warnecke, age 87, of Trenton, passed away Monday, November 29 at Breese Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Friday, at 10:00 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in Trenton Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Masonic Lodge services will be Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Shriner’s Hospital.

VIRGINIA HOLTEN

Virginia B. Holten, age 91, of Trenton, passed away Monday, November 29 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. Graveside services will be Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at Trenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John United Church of Christ. Moss Funeral Home in Trenton is in charge of the arrangements.

Mark Toennies, age 48, of Damiansville, passed away Sunday, November 28. A funeral Mass will be Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Damian Church in Damiansville. Burial will be in St. Damian Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden.
