ROLLOVER ACCIDENT SATURDAY

Illinois State Police handled a rollover accident Saturday morning south of Greenville. According to the accident report, around 7:50 a.m., Theresa Mayfield, age 40, of Jackson, Missouri, driving a 1998 GMC Yukon eastbound on Route 40, allegedly lost control and the SUV struck the guardrail and overturned down the embankment. Mayfield and a passenger, Tammy Jones, age 46, of Sedgewickville, Missouri were taken to Greenville Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Greenville Firefighters were called to the scene for mutual aid to block the road.

Two cars hit guardrails Saturday. The two accidents were within minutes of each other at Route 140 and Route 127. Around 7:55 a.m., an eastbound vehicle allegedly slid on ice and struck a guardrail. About 25 minutes later, while a Greenville Police Officer was on the scene, a westbound vehicle allegedly slide on ice and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported but more than $1,500 damage was estimated to both vehicles.

GREENVILLE REGIONAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY SPONSORS 17TH ANNUAL LUMINARY PROJECT

The Greenville Regional Hospital Auxiliary 17th annual “Light a Luminary for a Loved One or Friend” program is going on through January 2.  For a minimum donation of $10.00, a holiday luminary featuring a Christmas tree or snowflake design will be lighted and placed along the driveway and sidewalks surrounding Greenville Regional Hospital and Fair Oaks.  Donations to the “Light a Luminary” project may be made at the Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar or sent to the hospital or Fair Oaks in care of the “Light a Luminary” project.  For more information, call 664-1230, ext. 3006.

 

U OF I EXTENSION SPONSORS SPEND SMART/SAVE SMART PROGRAM

The University of Illinois Extension is sponsoring the program, 13 Money Tips to Spend Smart/Save Smart.  The program will offer a variety of financial spending and saving tips for families and individuals.  The presentation will be by teleconference Monday, December 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Meeting Room in Greenville.   The cost is $3.00 for non-Homemakers Extension Members.  To pre-register, call 664-3665.

SIMPLE ROOM FUNDRAISER AT HUDDLE HOUSE

The Simple Room is having a fundraiser at Huddle House Restaurant Tuesday, December 7 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  You may help raise funds for The Simple Room’s program of mentoring and tutoring services by simply eating out.
