RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY IN POCAHONTAS
Bond County Deputies are investigating a residential burglary in Pocahontas on Osage Lane. According to police records the burglary happened sometime on Monday the 27th. A large amount of items were taken from the residence, including a wedding dress, jewelry, electronics, collectibles, silverware and several hundred dollars in cash. The investigation into the burglary continues.
The Bond County I-70 patrol issued 26 speeding tickets on Tuesday.
CHRISTMAS DAY ACCIDENT WITH INJURY
The Bond County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident on Christmas Day that resulted in an injury. According to the accident report, around 4:45pm, Victor Kaltenbach, age 76 of Greenville was driving a 2001 Olds Aurora eastbound on Route 140 just west of Shawnee Road when he fell asleep, then awoke, drove off the north side of the road over a private drive, sideswiped a tree, continued eastbound into small bushes, striking a small tree, then struck a larger tree, and according to a witness, flipped around into the air with the vehicle landing facing northwest. During the incident, the rear axle broke on the Olds with a tire going airborne. According to the report a the tire struck a Lincoln Town car on the passenger side that was westbound on Route 140. Kaltenbach was taken to Greenville Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries.
