BLIZZARD WARNINGS IN METRO AND ST. LOUIS

The storm is here, and the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for St. Louis, Madison, Macoupin and Montgomery Counties untill Wednesday morning, and Bond, Clinton, Fayette and St. Clair counties are under a winter storm warning.  Even with the storm right on top of us, it’s still hard to say exactly how the precipitation is going to fall through out the day and tonight.   The storm will start as freezing rain and sleet then move to sleet and snow.  When the cross over will happen from freezing rain to snow/sleet is still unclear.  However the National Weather service does have .1-.3 of an inch of additional ice predicted for Bond County, then 6-8 inches of snow with higher levels possible.  If we see less ice and sleet we could see a lot more snow.  This massive storm reaches all the way back to Texas, and could cause power outages and extremely dangerous road conditions.  Later today the winds will start to really pick up with gusts over 40MPH, and the temperature will plummet with a high of only 14 on Thursday and low below zero.

QUARTER INCH OF ICE FOR GREENVILLE

The precipitation yesterday will pale in comparison with what will fall today, but it was a significant winter storm all by itself in our region.  The sewer plant recorded a quarter inch of ice as off 6AM this morning.
