10TH ANNUAL 4-H DAY WITH THE CARDINALS

4-H members, parents, volunteers, and alumni will gather at Busch Stadium Saturday, May 7, 2011 for the 10th annual 4-H Day with the Cardinals.  Tickets are $24.00 each which includes a special 4-H / Cardinals T-shirt.  Pre-game ceremonies include a parade around the Busch Stadium outfield, recitation of the 4-H pledge, and ceremonial first pitch by a 4-H member.  Tickets must be ordered on a special order form available from the U of I Extension office, postmarked by March 28.  For more information, call the extension office at 664-3665.

KASKASKIA COLLEGE OFFERS SELF DEFENSE COURSE

The Kaskaskia College Community Education Department is hosting a Basic Self Defense Course at the Centralia Martial Arts Academy Monday and Wednesday, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. March 7 – 30.  The academy is located at 320 West Broadway and the class is open to students of all ages.  There is a $25.00 facility fee payable to the academy on the first day of class.  The registration fee is $35.00 for students under age 60.  Students over age 60 may register free.  For more information, call 545-3255.

AMEREN FILES FOR DELIVERY RATE INCREASE

Ameren Illinois recently filed delivery service rate cases with the Illinois Commerce Commission to recover costs for delivering electricity and natural gas to more than one million homes and businesses in downstate Illinois.  State law requires Ameren to secure permission for additional cost recovery from the ICC.  The process to change delivery service rates takes eleven months so new rates would not take effect until early 2012.  Ameren is seeking an additional $51 million in cost recovery for natural gas delivery and $60 million for electricity delivery service.  Increases for typical customers are estimated at $1.88 - $4.53 more per month for natural gas and $2.96 - $3.78 more per month for electricity.  For more information, call 1-800-755-5000.

ASHLEY HOLDEN MAKES IHSA TEAM

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has announced its 2010-2011 All-State Academic Team.  This year’s team has 26 students on the primary team, and 50 students in the honorable mention team.  Ashley Holden of Greenville High School and Tyler Detmer of Mater Dei in Breese were selected to the Honorable Mention Team.  Every IHSA member school was invited to nominate one female student and one male student. Nominees must have at least a 3.50 grade point average, participated in at least two IHSA sponsored activities during each of the last two years, and demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

RELAY FOR LIFE TRIVIA NIGHT

Bond County Relay for Life is sponsoring a trivia night benefit Saturday, April 9 at the First Christian Church Recreation Center. Competition will consist of ten rounds of ten questions, each having two categories of five questions. CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH CLASS AT GREENVILLE EDUCATION CENTER

Kaskaskia College is offering a Conversational Spanish class, at the Greenville Education Center, Mondays, March 14 through April 4, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  The fee for the course is $35.00 for students under 60.  Students over 60 may register at no cost.  For more information or to register, call 664-9394.
