ISP DEALING WITH NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS ON ICY ROADS
A winter storm system brought sleet and freezing rain to the area early this morning and lead to several accidents on the highways. According to the District 11 Illinois State Police in Collinsville, Interstates 70, 270, and 255 are the hardest hit areas with numerous accidents since 400 o’clock this morning. Fortunately only minor injuries have been reported so far in Illinois. A huge 26 vehicle accident shut down part of I-64 in Missouri. The Jefferson Barracks Bridge was closed earlier this morning but has now been reopened and Interstate 270 in Illinois was closed for a while to clear an accident but it too is now open.
According to the Bond County Sheriff’s Department, no accidents due to icy roads have been reported in Bond County at news time.
