SNOW TOTALS FOR GREENVILLE


Snow in March.  Spring is here, but no one told Mother Nature.  According to information from the Greenville Waste Water Treatment Plant, Greenville received 2.5 inches of snow by 6:00 a.m. Saturday and as of 6:00 a.m. Sunday all three measuring stations show an additional 1.5 inches of snow.  The combination of seasons made for some amazing pictures.

STAFF HIRED FOLLOWING CLOSED SESSION AT UNIT 2 BOARD MEETING

Following a closed session at the recent Bond County Unit 2 School Board meeting, the board rehired administrators, Gary Brauns, Bill Carpenter, Scott Pasley, Wendy Porter, Eric Swingler, Matt Noyes, Brad Turner, and Meg File.  The board granted tenure to certified staff completing their fourth consecutive year of employment in the district and certified staff completing their first, second, and third years of employment were rehired.  The board also filled three teaching positions in the district and rehired coaches at the high school, junior high, and at the Pocahontas and Sorento Centers.

GREENVILLE REGIONAL HOSPITAL TO HOST BLOOD DRIVE

Greenville Regional Hospital is hosting a CICBC blood drive Thursday, March 31 from noon to 5:00 p.m.  To schedule a donation time, call 1-866-448-3253.  Walk-ins are also welcome.

KASKASKIA COLLEGE HONOR BAND CONCERT

The Third Annual Kaskaskia College Honor Band Concert will be Thursday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium.  Guest conductor Bill Camphouse will direct the honor band and the concert band will be directed by guest conductor Professor Cliff Jourdan. Directors from thirteen area high school nominated more than 240 students for the band. 100 students were chosen based upon the instrumentation required by the director and this will mark the first time a 100 piece band has performed at Kaskaskia College. Confirming the students’ mastery of their instruments is the fact that they will meet with the director for the first time on the day of the performance. There is no charge for the concert and everyone is encouraged to attend.

JANE F. DEUTSCH

Jane F. Deutsch, age 84, of Breese, passed away Friday, March 25. A funeral Mass will be Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese. Burial will be St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Hempen Funeral Home in Breese.

LOLA F. ZEEB

Lola F. Zeeb, age 86, of Greenville, passed away Saturday, March 26 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Burial will be in Smithgrove Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Bond County Hospice or Fair Oaks.

RANDY “SYB” SYBERT

Randy “Syb” Sybert, age 53, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, March 27 at his home.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, at noon at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the family.

RANDY CASEY

Randy Casey, age 55, of Panama, passed away Thursday, March 24 at St. Louis University Hospital.  Funeral services are Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Perfetti Funeral Home in Panama.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery with military honors.  Friends may call Sunday, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

LOIS MARIE KLEINER

Lois Marie Kleiner, age 84, of Greenville, passed away Friday, March 25.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville.  Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home in Greenville.  Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or Greenville Regional Hospital.
