FATAL ACCIDENT  ON ROUTE 50

Illinois State Police have released more information regarding the fatal accident Saturday near O’Fallon.  According to the accident report, 23 year-old Stephanie Ratajczyk was westbound on US Route 50 when for unknown reasons her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a van driven by 29 year-old Shanon Lautner of Marine.  Ratajczyk, of Sheller, Illinois, was pronounced dead at the scene and Lautner was transported to St. Louis University Hospital with serious injuries.

TOURISM COMMITTEE MEETS

The Greenville Tourism Committee met Thursday evening.  The Bond County Antique Machinery Club requested $729.00 for advertising for this year’s show at the Bond County Fair.  This year’s featured tractor will be the Massey-Harris.  The request was approved.
The 2011 Bond County Fair is August 3-9 and Judy Debatin explained two new additions to the fair.  There will be an Age of Elegance Pageant for women 60 years old and over and a World War II reenactment.  The request for $1,500.00 was approved.
Tourism Director Julia Jenner handed out new guidelines for funding requests.  She explained the tourism committee could only recommend funding requests and the final decision was up to the Greenville City Council.

FAFSA WORKSHOP AT KASKASKIA COLLEGE

Kaskaskia College Financial Aid is hosting a FAFSA workshop Friday, June 3 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in room L-102 on the KC main campus.  Personnel will be available to assist college-bound students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  For more information on the workshop or what materials to bring, call 618-545-3080.



BASEBALL CAMPS AT KASKASKIA COLLEGE

The Kaskaskia College Baseball Program is offering two baseball camps Thursday and Friday, June 16-17.  The first camp is for students in grades 1-5 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and the second camp is for students in grades 6-8 from noon - 2:00 p.m.  The fee for each camp is $25.00 and includes a T-shirt.  The camps will be instructed by Kaskaskia’s head baseball coach Mitch Koester, Assistant Coach Marcus Wilson, and current KC athletes.  All players should meet at the KC baseball field the first day with a baseball glove.  Pre-registration is required.  Contact the KC Athletic department for more information or to register at 545-3327.




ANNA MARIE STOECKLIN

Anna Marie Stoecklin, age 84, of Alhambra, passed away Saturday, May 28 at Alhambra Care Center.  A memorial service will be Saturday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston.  Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
