ACCIDENTAL DEATH IN MADISON COUNTY

Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched Saturday, at 4:15 p.m., to the 8400 block of Bivens Road in Dorsey regarding a report of an accidental death.  According to information from the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Tom E. Dean, age 67, and a friend were cutting down a tree. Dean and his friend had reportedly dug around the tree when the tree fell on a utility vehicle.  Dean was attempting to remove the tree from the vehicle and slipped.  The tree rolled over onto Dean, causing his death.  Dean was pronounced deceased at 5:57 p.m.

.FLAG DAY CEREMONY AT BOND COUNTY COURTHOUSE

The Illinois Society of the War of 1812 and the Kaskaskia Chapter of the US Daughters of 1812 will host a Flag Day ceremony today, June 14th, at 1:00 p.m. on the Bond County Courthouse lawn.  The event includes a 16-flag ceremony featuring the various flags that have represented Illinois through its history. GREENVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING PREVIEW

The Greenville City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Greenville Municipal Building.
In addition to administrative reports and meeting minutes approval, the council will conduct a public hearing to discuss annexation agreements and ordinances.  A variety of objections have been heard in previous meetings. The council will review an application for a Class C liquor license from EZ Tobacco and More, a new business planning to open on the Greenville Square at 112 North 2nd Street. The council will decide how $325,000 should be used for infrastructure repairs, for road maintenance or sidewalk repair.

TWO VEHICLES STOLEN IN HIGHLAND

Highland Police Detectives are investigating reports of two stolen vehicles.  The first was reported Wednesday, June 8 from Rt. 143 at Walmart and the second Sunday, June 12 from a residence on Cypress Street.  According to Highland Police, the second vehicle was recovered but its condition is unknown.  The first vehicle has not yet been found.

BOND COUNTY ETSB MEETING

The Bond County Emergency Telephone Systems Board met Thursday at 9:00 am at the Bond County Courthouse.  The board voted to split the $4,000 cost of a signpost hammer with the highway department and to match an Illinois Terrorism Task Force grant of $4,250 for replacing the fire department base station.

ALAN C. DRAPER

Alan C. Draper, age 71, of Highland, passed away Sunday, June 12 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Funeral services will be Friday, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church in Highland. A private burial service will be at a later date at Highland City Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Highland Area Community Foundation or to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

CURTIS RAYMOND HOCKETT

Curtis Raymond Hockett, age 80, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, June 12 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery with full military honors.  Friends may call Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Shriner’s Hospital.

RICKEY A. VAUGHN

Rickey A. Vaughn, age 57, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, June 12 at Helia Healthcare.  Memorial services will be Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home in Greenville.  Friends may call Thursday, after 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Greenville First Christian Church or to the family.

Elaine Conner, of Greenville, passed away Monday, June 13 at Greenville Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in rural Pittsburg.  Friends may call Wednesday, after 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Bond Christian Service Camp.

KEVIN LEE SUZUKI

Kevin Lee Suzuki, age 51, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, June 12 at his home.  Memorial services will be private.  Memorials are suggested to Bond County Home Healthcare.  The Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
