EDWARDSVILLE ATTORNEY FOUND DEAD
Dennis F. Nalick, age 63, of Edwardsville, who was due to be in federal court Thursday morning for sentencing related to a felony count of mail fraud, was found dead in a vehicle parked in a garage at his home with the motor running.
According to a press release from the Madison County Coroner’s office, Nalick allegedly sent a fax to his lawyer’s office at 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning saying that he would not be at the 9:00 a.m. sentencing hearing. US District Judge Michael Reagan issued a warrant for Nalick’s arrest and investigators began tracking the source of the fax.
Nalick’s attorney contacted Edwardsville Police and requested they do a welfare check on Nalick at his home. He was found seated in the vehicle in a locked, detached garage at his residence.
Nalick was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:07 a.m. The cause of death will be determined following an autopsy, completion of the investigation, and results of a routine toxicology test.
