GREENVILLE PLAN COMMISSION MEETING CONSIDERS ZONING CHANGES
The Greenville Plan Commission met recently with a public hearing and discussion on specific rezoning requests.
The first public hearing item was a request by Davis and Head, LLC. to combine two lots in the Villa Verde Subdivision. There was no discussion on this item and the commission approved it, recommending the action to the city council.
The second item in the public hearing was a request by several residents to rezone lots in the Vista Del Mar Subdivision from R-2 to R-1. The lots are bounded by College Avenue, Oak Street, Eastern Avenue, and Stephens Street. In addition, the northwest corner, lying south of College Avenue and East of Stephens Street is included in the rezoning request.
After a good deal of discussion, Meta Fry said she did not want to be included in the request. She said she knew her duplex would be included if the request was granted but pointed out that if some calamity occurred after approval of the request, she would be barred from building a duplex there which would be a loss of income and value to her.
The commission approved the first portion of the request but denied the section dealing with Ms. Fry’s property.
