DEMOULIN MUSEUM UNVEILING NEW DISPLAY

The DeMoulin Museum will celebrate the photography of Ed DeMoulin during a special, month-long exhibit entitled, “A Man and His Camera.” DeMoulin, who moved to Greenville in 1887, was one of the community’s premier photographers with a studio on the west side of the Greenville Square.  In addition to photographs, the exhibit highlights more than 30 DeMoulin Studio cabinet card photos and an original copy of DeMoulin’s 1892 photo album entitled “Photographic Views of the City of Greenville.”  Also making its debut is an Ed DeMoulin pencil sketch in its original frame that was recently obtained by the Museum. The unveiling of the exhibit is Friday, September 23, in conjunction with the annual Autumn ArtWalk.  The Museum will be open that night from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and the exhibit will remain throughout the month of October. The DeMoulin Museum is located at 110 West Main Street in Greenville.  Admission is free.  For more information, call 664-4115 or visit www.demoulinmuseum.org.

WATCH FOR DEER ON ROADS THIS FALL

Local sheriff’s departments encourage you to be especially watchful for deer on the roads during dusk and dawn hours this fall season, particularly in rural areas.  We are approaching mating and harvest season which means more deer activity.  To help reduce your likelihood of hitting a deer, stay alert.  Always watch for deer, especially from dusk to midnight and just before and after dawn.  Deer crashes occur at all times of the year, but October, November, and December show an increase in the number of deer/car crashes because of the mating season. Remember, if you see one deer, there are probably more nearby.  If hitting a deer is unavoidable, honk your horn, grip the steering wheel firmly, and slow down while maintaining control of your vehicle.  Do not steer into traffic or off the road to avoid a deer.  If you are involved in a car/deer crash, report the accident to the local law enforcement agency.
