LOCAL MAN ARCHED AFTER ACCIDENT

A local man was arched to St. Louis University Hospital after a car accident according to the Illinois State Police.  Around 10:43 a.m. Saturday, 61 year-old Mark Wheat was northbound on Millersburg Road and stopped at the intersection of Millersburg and Route 143.  Illinois State Police report Wheat allegedly pulled in front of a westbound vehicle on Route 143 and the two cars collided.  Wheat was arched to St. Louis University Hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the second vehicle, Eric Forrester, age 43, of Carlyle, was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital as were two passengers in the Forrester vehicle.

Under the amended Illinois Adoption Act, starting November 15, 2011, adults born on or after January 1, 1946 in Illinois who were surrendered or adopted may request a non-certified copy of their original birth certificate which typically includes birth parent’s names, ages, and places of birth.  To allow birth parents to convey their wishes regarding the release of their identifying information to their surrendered child or children, the Illinois Department of Public Health is providing a Birth Parent Preference Form to allow them to request their identifying information remain confidential.  To insure confidentiality, forms must be received prior to November 15.  To receive preference, medical questionnaire, or request forms, or for more information, call 877-323-5299.

BOND COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT SCHEDULES FLU CLINICS

To make getting a flu shot as convenient as possible, the Bond County Health Department will give adults a flu shot anytime between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Flu shot clinics are in September at the following times and locations.

September 20 - Bond County Housing, in the Keyesport Community Room from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and in the Greenville Community Room from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
September 23 - walk-in at the Health Department from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
September 26 - Alco in Greenville from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
September 28 - Watson’s Pharmacy from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.


MULBERRY GROVE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO MEET

The Mulberry Grove Board of Education is scheduled to meet Monday, September 19.  There will be a budget hearing at 6:45 p.m. with the regular meeting at 7:00.  The agenda includes approval of the 2011-2012 budget, adoption of the press plus policy, a school project update, employee insurance, audit approval, OKAW agreement, technology coordinator job description, bids on a van, and a closed session.


SPECIAL WORK SESSION FOR KC BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees has scheduled a special work session for Monday, September 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Clinton Wedekemper Board Room in the Lifelong Learning Center.  The special session is regarding capital projects.

Virginia Albert Rogier

Virginia Albert Rogier, age 99, passed away Sunday, September 18 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 9:00 a.m. at the Wisetown Baptist Church.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.  Friends may call Tuesday, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials are suggested to the Wisetown Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. 

Clarence J. Price

Clarence J. Price, age 65, of Collinsville, passed away Saturday, September 17 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.  Funeral arrangements for 65 year-old Clarence J. Price are incomplete at the Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine.

Gladys M. Frey

Gladys M. Frey, age 79, of Highland, passed away Sunday, September 18 at her home.  Funeral arrangements for 79 year-old Gladys M. Frey are incomplete at the Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
