MOTORISTS AVOID BECOMING AN IMPAIRED DRIVING MONSTER THIS HALLOWEEN

The Illinois Department of Transportation reminds motorists one of the most frightening things about Halloween is encountering an impaired driver.  During the past seven years, 25 persons were killed and 2,018 injured in 7,723 motor vehicle crashes occurring during Halloween.  44% of the fatalities involved an impaired driver.  If your Halloween celebration involves alcohol, designate a sober driver to get you home safely.  Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin and if you are impaired, take a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation so you are sure to get home safely.  Help make this Halloween safe for everyone and don’t drink and drive.
