GREENVILLE FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO ALARM AT COLLEGE

Greenville Firefighters were called Tuesday, at 10:21 p.m., to a fire alarm at Joy Hall on the Greenville College Campus.  According to the fire report, the cause of the alarm was burned macaroni and cheese in a microwave oven.  Firefighters were on the scene about ten minutes.


BOND COUNTY BOARD SPECIAL MEETING

The Bond County Board scheduled a special meeting for today, at 7:00 p.m., in the county board room.  The board will be discussing the possible removal or non-reappointment of the county’s Supervisor of Assessments.  Monday, the Bond County Board of Review provided WGEL with information that the additional 10% tax assessment increase for lake-adjacent properties has been withdrawn.


GREENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL VETERAN’S DAY PROGRAM

All local veterans are invited to attend the Greenville High School Veteran’s Day program Thursday, November 10 in the Greenville High School Gymnasium.  The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and features patriotic music and a tribute to all our area Veterans.   A book titled Bond County: Greatest Generation featuring Greenville World War 2 Veterans will be released.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY PROGRAM HELPS WOMEN OVERCOME EFFECTS OF CANCER TREATMENT

The American Cancer Society Look Good…Feel Better program is Monday, December 5, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., in the Greenville Regional Hospital Community Room.  Female cancer patients who participate in this class will learn how to use make-up and skin care techniques to overcome the appearance-related effects of chemotherapy and radiation.  More than $200.00 in beauty products will be provided free to each participant.  To register or for more information, call 664-1230, ext 3205.


GREENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT SELLING CITRUS

The Greenville High School Music Department is selling oranges and grapefruit.  You may order through November 16 from any music student of by calling the high school office at 664-1370.  Twenty pounds of oranges or grapefruit are $25.00 and forty pounds are $35.00.  Mixed cartons of oranges and grapefruit in the same weights are $27.00 and $37.00.  Fruit will be delivered in December.


KASKASKIA COLLEGE TO OFFER DEFENSIVE DRIVING CLASS FOR TRUCK DRIVERS

Kaskaskia College is offering a defensive driving class for professional truck drivers November 14, 15, and 16 and December 14, 15, and 16 at the SCT training facility in Centralia.  Participants need attend only one session from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  For more information or to register, call Dean at 545-3310.

OBITUARIES

Judith L. Nagel

Judith L. Nagel, age 67, of Strongsville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 6 at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.  Funeral services will be Friday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra.  Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.  Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra is in charge of the arrangements.
