DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLICITORS IN GREENVILLE

Door-to-door solicitors sell a wide range of products but their trustworthiness is often in question. Greenville Police Chief Lou Lorton said the City of Greenville issues solicitor permits to those who wish to canvas the city and go door-to-door.  Permits are issued by the Greenville Police Department and must be displayed upon demand. They assist the police department in keeping track of who is going door-to-door in our community. If someone comes to your door offering to sell something, you have the right to ask to see their permit.  If a solicitor does not have a permit, be polite, close the door, and immediately phone the police.  Solicitors are only allowed to visit your home from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and they must go to front doors.  Chief Lorton reminds you to be in control of the situation. If a solicitor is too pushy or requests too much information, simply close your door and call the police department. If you have any questions, contact the Greenville Police Department at 664-2131.
