BENEFIT CONCERTS FOR GARY VAZQUEZ
There will be two benefit concerts Friday and Saturday, June 1-2 at the Wildey Theater in Edwardsville in honor of Sergeant 1st Class Gary Vazquez. Mike Kleinhoffer told WGEL the purpose of the concerts is to pay tribute to the young man from Highland. During Gary’s third tour of duty, in September 2008, he sadly lost his life. The intent of the benefit concerts is to raise funds and awareness to set up a memorial scholarship in his name. Tickets are available at www.wildeytheater.com.

AUTHOR PRESENTS BULLYING PROGRAM AT SIUE
Tuesday, May 15, the author of the book, Queenbees and Wannabes is giving a presentation in the Meridian Ballroom at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Julie Wollerman, Regional Superintendent of Schools in Bond, Fayette, and Effingham Counties said Rosalind Wiseman is an expert in the field of bullying. Wiseman is able to present perspectives from both the parent's and student’s points of view. The program will focus on what is bullying, where and when it is happening, and most importantly what we can all do to prevent bullying. May 15, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wiseman is signing books at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Following the book signing is the presentation. Pre-registration is required. BOND COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH TO MEET
The Bond County Board of Health is scheduled to meet Monday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes policy and job description revisions, a computer policy, a fiscal year 2012 budget revision, expiring terms of personnel, and a closed session.

LAURA FELDMAN TO GIVE PRESENTATION AT BOND COUNTY SENIOR CENTER
Thursday, May 17, at 1:00 p.m., a nationally recognized public speaker is giving a presentation at the Bond County Senior Center. Anna Oestreich said Laura Feldman is a national speaker for the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. She has been with the organization for 21 years and is a very entertaining and informative speaker.
