COUNTY FILES APPEAL IN HOUSING AUTHORITY LAWSUIT

Bond County filed an appeal in the Housing Authority lawsuit.  The appeal was filed by State’s attorney Chris Bauer.  June 8, Judge Jensen ruled that Billie Joe Allan and Deb Whicker would be allowed to continue to serve on the Housing Authority Board into 2013.  The county contended both Allan and Whicker’s terms had expired and new commissioners could be appointed.  It had been the practice of the Housing Authority to appoint their own members without approval of the Bond County Board even though it is within the county board’s authority to appoint and approve those members.  The appeal will be heard at the 5th district appellate court. No date has been set.
