TWO VEHICLE CRASH ON ROUTE 138 SENDS TWO TO HOSPITAL

A two-vehicle crash on Rt.138 in Macoupin County sent two persons to the hospital.  According to the Illinois State Police accident report, Jonathan W. Juwer, age 26, of Benld, was westbound on Rt. 138 in a Plymouth Neon, about one mile west of Interstate 55.  Steve Rademacher, age 58, of Gillespie was eastbound on Rt. 138 in a Ford F-150 pickup truck.  Juwer apparently lost control of his car and it crossed the center line and struck Rademacher’s truck head-on.  Jonathan Juwer and Johanna C. F. Juwer, age 22, a passenger in the car, were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield for treatment.  Juwer was cited for allegedly traveling too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

8TH ANNUAL AFHM FUNDRAISER BANQUET

The 8th Annual Fundraiser Banquet at the American Farm Heritage Museum is Saturday, March 9, starting at 6:00 p.m., at the museum.  Ollie Schaefer said Sherry Schaefer will give a presentation on her trip to Australia.  An auction is planned in addition to the banquet. SHIMKUS STAFFER TO HOLD OFFICE HOURS IN POCAHONTAS

BOYS TENNIS TEAM GEARS UP FOR NEW SEASON

Spring is just around the corner and that means many spring sports teams are gearing up for a new season.  Greenville High School Boys Tennis Coach Carl Brannon said tennis is an interesting sport and he oftentimes gets athletes who are new to the sport or who have little or no previous experience.  Last year they lost five seniors so this year will be a rebuilding year.  Their first game is at home Thursday, March 21, against Metro East Lutheran.

Bradford National Bank will host a free Business Roundtable Series, designed to assist businesses with a variety of issues in today’s changing, often challenging, business climate.  Randy Alderman said Bradford National Bank hosts roundtable discussions about once a quarter to help educate and inform their commercial clients on a variety of topics such as identity theft, counterfeiting, etc.  The next event will focus on Managing Anger and Stress in the Workplace.  Professionals from Greenville Regional Hospital will present the program Tuesday, February 26, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Lunch will be provided by the bank.
