HEALTH FAIR 2013 TODAY

The Greenville Regional Hospital Health Fair is today from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., at the Greenville First United Methodist Church on South Second Street.  Comprehensive blood tests will be offered for $35.00 and men may add the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test for $10.00 more.  An A1C hemoglobin test costs $10.00, Vitamin D testing is $15.00, bone density tests are $5.00, and an in-home colon cancer detection kit is also $5.00.  Many other tests are offered free of charge.  For more information about Health Fair 2013, call 664-1230, ext. 3060.

PERMANENT DRUG DROP OFF BOX NOW AT GREENVILLE POLICE STATION

Many residents participated in the Drug Take Back Event in Greenville last fall.  In light of this, the Greenville Police Department decided to create a permanent location for residents to drop off their unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications.  Greenville Police Sergeant Deb Keserauskis said controlled and non-controlled prescription medications, over the counter drugs, or medicine bottles containing liquids may be dropped in the box.  The drop box will be open 24 hours a day.  There are no questions asked and the service is completely anonymous.  The police department will take the drugs to a separate facility until the DEA destroys them.  For more information, call the Greenville Police Station at 664-2131.


SHIMKUS SEEKING HIGH SCHOOL ART CONTEST ENTRIES

Congressman John Shimkus is accepting entries for the 2013 Congressional Art Competition.  The contest is open to high school students in the 15th Congressional District and entries are due by April 26.  Entries must be accompanied by a student information and release form.  Winning artwork will hang in Washington, DC, in a tunnel connecting the Cannon House Office Building and the Capitol where it will be seen by thousands of staff persons and visitors.  For more information about how to enter the contest, call 217-446-0664.

12TH ANNUAL 4-H DAY WITH THE CARDINALS

Illinois and Missouri 4-H members, parents, volunteers, and alumni are gathering at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Saturday, May 18, for the 12th annual 4-H Day with the Cardinals.  The Cardinals are playing the Milwaukee Brewers in a 6:15 p.m. game.  Tickets are $24.00 which includes a specially designed T-shirt.  4-H representatives who purchase tickets may participate in a parade around the Busch Stadium outfield.  Ticket order forms are available at the U of I Extension office and must be postmarked by April 5.  For more information, call the Extension office at 664-3665.  



OBITUARIES

Lila Warren

Lila Warren, age 82, of Coffeen, passed away Wednesday, April 3, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, at noon, at the Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen.  Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.  Friends may call Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to PAWS Care.
