At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Bond County Board briefly mentioned an insurance bill related to an inmate in custody who died at a Springfield hospital.
Bond County Clerk Randy Reitz said the county recently received a bill to cover its deductible. The total is $40,110.
Reitz said it is still trying to be determined where the money will come from to pay the bill. He told WGEL this is not something the county board must take specific action on, but it is a bill that has to be paid.
The inmate, Bobby E. Robinson, age 50, of Royal Lake was in the custody of the Bond County Sheriff’s Department when he was admitted to the Springfield hospital last year.
Robinson died on July 15, 2016 due to an illness.
He was being held on five counts of first degree murder for allegedly shooting his wife on September 18, 2015.
