William D. “Bill” McAdams, age 84 of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, passed away at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was the former Post Commander of the American Legion Post #1180 of Mulberry Grove, IL.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Mulberry Grove, IL. with Pastor Randy Whitehead officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. Saturday until service time at the Mulberry Grove Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. For those who desire, memorials in Bill’s memory may be made to the Mulberry Grove Church of Christ, the Gilham Masonic Lodge # 809 A.F. & A.M., or the American Legion Post # 1180. Masonic Services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m.Saturday by Gilham Masonic Lodge # 809 A.F. & A.M.
William Donald McAdams, the son of William Phillip McAdams and Dora Rosalie Warner McAdams was born on August 11, 1932 in Eldred, Illinois. Boomer grew up in Jerseyville,IL and worked for Daw Electric. He then attended Jerseyville High School. Boomer joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17, serving at Scott Air Force Base. He then returned to Jerseyville where he was a cab driver, Greyhound bus driver, and truck driver. Boomer joined the Operating Engineers Local # 318 of Harrisburg, IL and later transferred to Local # 9 of Denver, Colorado. He was a heavy equipment operator and crane operator retiring in 2002 after 34 years. Boomer and Betty moved to Mulberry Grove in 2008 where Boomer was Commander of the American Legion Post # 1180.
Boomer and Mabel Elizabeth “Betty” Evans Jones were united in marriage on June 13, 1955 in White Hall, Illinois and enjoyed over 61 years together. Betty survives as do their five children : Michael T. (Vicky) Jones of Dacula, GA, Sheriff R.L. “Butch” Conway of Dacula, GA, Jan A.(Anthony) Satriano of Arvado, CO, Roberta J. Jones of Sierra Vista, AZ, Phillip D. (Penny) McAdams of Greenville, 12 grandchildren: Jennifer, Regina, Amy, Zack, Amanda, Thomas, Julie, Tracy, Ginger, Sabrina, Jeanne, Timothy, 21 great-grandchildren: Bo, Braxton, Garrison, Camryn, Colton, Bailey, Kaitlyn, Bryson, Paidyn, Stephanie, Bradley, Gianna, Kendall, Tommy, Electra, Brian, Trae, Caleb, Kimberly, Bethany, and Jocelyn. Boomer is also survived by two in-laws, Warren Reidlinger of Cherokee Village, AK, and Linda McAdams of Jacksonville, IL.
Boomer is preceded in death by his parents William and Dora McAdams, sister Elfreda Reidlinger, and two brothers Delbert McAdams and Robert McAdams.
Boomer is a member of the American Legion Post # 1180 of Mulberry Grove, Gilham Masonic Lodge # 809 A.F. & A.M, and a member of the Mulberry Grove Church of Christ.
