James Lloyd Elliott, age 106 of Keyesport, passed away at the Carlyle Healthcare Center on Thursday, June 7, 2018.
Mr. Elliott was born on July 30, 1911, in Keyesport, a son of James and Minnie (Apple) Elliott. He married Elva M. Laws on May 8, 1932, and she preceded him in death on May 14, 1995.
Lloyd is survived by a son – Jimmie Elliott of Keyesport; 2 daughters – Barbara Leon of Dallas, Texas and Marilyn Coates and husband Bob of Keyesport; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law – Betty Elliott of Greenville.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by 2 sons – Edward Duane Elliott and Lloyd “Skipper” Elliott; a son-in-law – Noel Leon; a daughter-in-law – Mary Elliott; 2 grandchildren – Steven and Matthew Coates; 3 sisters, and one brother.
Mr. Elliott was a farmer and owned and operated a trucking business for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He attended the Keyesport First United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle with Pastor Cheryl Cain, officiating. Interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Elliott are suggested to the Keyesport United Methodist Church and will be received at Zieren Funeral Home.
