Both Greenville College varsity basketball teams took advantage of the home court advantage Saturday and defeated MacMurray College.
The Panther men led by only seven points at halftime, then erupted for 99 points in the second half to post a 162 to 125 victory.
Elmo Smith led the scoring with 24 points, DeAndre Brown had 19 and Kenny Greene, Shane Smith, Michael Hohm and Stevonte Young netted 17 points apiece.
The Panthers are 14 and 4 overall and 8-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). They are tied with Westminster for second place.
The Lady Panthers rolled to a 91 to 47 win over MacMurray, leading by 13 after one quarter and stretching the margin throughout the game.
Laura Goodnight was leading scorer with 15 points for G.C. Taylor Paulin had 11 points and Emily Brandkind 10.
The Greenville women have a 13 and 6 overall record and are 8 and 3 in the SLIAC for second place.
Also last week, the G.C. men and women defeated Westminster in conference action.
Both Greenville College teams play at Fontbonne Wednesday and travel to Kentucky on Saturday to battle Spalding University. The next home games are February 8 against Iowa Wesleyan.
