A tournament at Decatur on Saturday was rained out for the Watson’s Senators Junior Legion baseball team, but it ended up hosting the Canton Crushers at the Greenville High School diamond.
The Senators won twice to improve their summer record to 5 and 2.
The Greenville team claimed the opening game in walk-off fashion. In the bottom of the seventh, Hunter Gray cracked a two-run homer over the left-center field fence to give the Senators a 7 to 5 win.
Watson’s trailed 5 to 2 entering the bottom of the fifth. Jonathan Barnes picked up a RBI to make it a 5 to 3 score after 5.
The Senators tied the game in the last of the sixth on two walks, a wild pitch and a run-scoring double by Mason Johnson.
Logan Doll had three hits including a double, and posted one RBI. Johnson and Barnes finished with two hits apiece.
Wil Harnetiaux earned the pitching win, shutting down Canton in the fourth through seventh innings.
In the second game, the Senators got out to an early lead and beat the Crushers 6 to 2.
Doll smacked a three-run double in the opening inning. Greenville scored its other three runs in the fourth inning. Barnes had a RBI single, another double by Doll resulted in a run, and Gray singled for a RBI.
Doll and Barnes produced two hits apiece in the contest.
Gray picked up the pitching win as the starter. Brock Nelson tossed the final three innings for his third save of the season.
